Media and video
Swarm can work from videos you explicitly register with a workspace. Use it to browse source folders, understand visuals and embedded audio, create durable transcripts, and build bounded video projects without turning your source library into a writable workspace.
Video Studio is very beta. For now, the best way to make and edit a video is to talk to Swarm in chat and let it work with your project and artifacts. Please do not rely on the direct editor experience yet—we are actively fixing the UX. The launch video on the Swarm homepage was made entirely with this editor, and we would love your feedback. Deep artifact integration is central to bringing source media, generated visuals, and finished renders together into strong videos.
Media quick settings
/media keeps the setup close to the conversation.
In Desktop, enter /media to open Media Quick Settings without leaving chat. Use it to register or review source video folders and choose the models Swarm uses for image generation and video understanding.
/media is a Desktop shortcut. Do not expect the same rich settings panel in the TUI.
Quick start
In Desktop, enter /media and register your research-clips folder. Then return to chat and ask: “Find the registered videos that explain the onboarding flow.”
Source videos
Registered folders are workspace-scoped and read-only.
- Register only the folders you want Swarm to browse for the current workspace.
- Swarm navigates bounded subdirectories and works from opaque source references rather than arbitrary paths.
- Source access permits viewing and transcription; it does not permit editing, moving, renaming, or deleting your videos.
- You can select several supported videos within the interface limit and include focus notes for the analysis.
- Video understanding can use visible frames and embedded audio, depending on the selected model and source.
Use focus notes for silent demos
Tell Swarm when a clip is a silent software demo and ask for a dense play-by-play of cursor actions, navigation, visible text changes, and results. Guidance can focus the analysis but cannot weaken factuality or source authority.
Transcripts
Transcription creates durable, timestamped evidence.
Run analysis
Swarm starts a bounded background transcription job and keeps its durable status.
Read evidence
Use the section index and bounded timestamp ranges, then carry the transcript reference into later work.
A transcript is tied to the unchanged source fingerprint. Preview reads are bounded; the durable transcript remains reusable without repeatedly processing the same unchanged media.
Projects and renders
The runtime supports bounded editing projects, not a general text-to-video launch.
Swarm can create session-owned video projects, manage structured timeline revisions that reference source clips or ready managed artifacts, restore an earlier revision, and start bounded background renders. Rendered MP4 output can be published as a managed artifact.
You can check or cancel transcription and render jobs. The output format uses reviewed presets such as landscape, portrait, or square video.
Current product boundary
Video Studio remains beta, and its direct editor UX is still being improved. Swarm does not claim a launched, general-purpose text-to-video product. Today’s durable project and render path assembles supported source clips and ready managed artifacts through a structured timeline; use chat as the primary interface while the direct controls mature.
